Rick Young's Blog

Rick Young has worked in television and video production since the late 1980’s and is a committed Mac fanatic, using Apple technology for all his professional post-production work. Rick's introduction to Apple was with a Lisa before the Mac even existed, and since then has worked on Macs exclusively. He considers himself lucky to be able to get paid for what he loves to do - shoot and edit.

Freelance Woes

The day started off well. Busy as can be, I'm in early where I'm editing. More work than I can handle - I'm powering through, making progress, earning the money and thinking about the next job which is 8 days of solid work with other bits and pieces in-between. If there's a recession looming it doesn't appear close to touching my economy.

Blue-ray is coming to the Mac

It is only a matter on time before Macs will ship with Blu-ray drives - and for us in the editing world this cannot come soon enough. Not because the post-production world wants to sit back all day and watch movies in glorious HD (as nice as that would be), but because we desperately need Blue-ray as an archive solution.
