The Ikonoskop - a different sort of digital cinema camera
Imagine a camera not much larger than a palm-corder, capable of shooting images good enough for cinema projection. This, according the inventor of the Ikonoskop is just what this camera does. The Ikonoskop records native 1920 x 1080 pixels uncompressed - one can master directly to HD-cam SR and print to film in the native 1:78:1 aspect ration without any loss of pixels. The result is pristine quality. The Ikonoskop is a small, light, versatile camera which has been described as a Super 16mm replacement, featuring a sensor which matches that of a piece of Super 16mm film. At 1.5 kg the Ikonoskop is arguably the smallest professional digital motion picture camera on the market.
