Investigation into Polecam
Polecam provides the means to position a crane in places which has not been possible before, be it on location in a jungle, desert, mountains, or inside of a studio environment.
Polecam can be operated in the harness or on a tripod, with quick setup and breakdown. Unlike conventional jibs the system can be moved, completely intact with camera and all accessories. Most jibs need to be broken down each time a set up is needed. The lightweight nature is all due to a radical redesign of the concept of a jib arm, including materials used in construction as well as the latest camera technology. Primarily the system is designed to be used with lightweight cameras, such as those made by Toshiba, Iconix, Camera Corps or Ikegami. It is possible to use the system with lightweight HDV cameras, however, the recommendation is for high-quality, specialised small cameras.
The system provides for smooth, floating jib arm shots and can be attached to the body by way of a harness or on top of a standard tripod.
