Red Rocks IBC

Interview with Ted Schilowitz "Leader of the Rebellion"

RED IBC 2006

We basically kicked off the project when we decided to build this camera. The sensor design wasn’t done yet, there was no camera design yet there were just a bunch of guys that were motivated and ready to build something and that’s when we started. It was all theoretical and the vision was there - that was Jim, he had the vision - and he said “Ted I think we want to build this thing and can you help” - we put our heads down and eight months later we have showed 4K at IBC. So that’s something to be proud of.

I guess I would say the reaction has been “off the charts” would be the only way I could describe it. Personally for us bringing the sensor up for the first time has been - when you do something like this at this level its quite a wild ride. There’s a lot of drama, there’s a lot of excitement. But the first time we saw the images from the sensor looking really good, crisp, crystal clear and a few weeks later we start shooting in our little warehouse in the back of our lab - and we’re creating these beautiful images - just looking at each other and going “Wow - looks like we might have something here”.
