Grass Valley Infinity - Scott Shehan
"Infinity is all about the power of choice. There’s three primary pieces of Infiniti there’s a digital media camcorder, a digital media recorder and the Rev Pro media. With the Infiniti camera it’s a 2/3rds inch CCD camcorder which provides choices of compression - jpg 2000, MPG2, DV25 - you also have many choices in connectivity - the traditional connectivity, HD, SD inputs, GIG ethernet, USB, Firewire. Also choices of recording media - we mentioned the REV Pro earlier and the REV Pro is a 35GB disc that holds over 2 hours of standard definition video, 45 minutes to an hour of high definition video and you can actually mix and match on the same piece of media. So it’s a true file based media and you take it from the camcorder, go right directly into your editor or you can go directly into the digital media recorder which is like a studio deck or a field recorder type of a deck.
It is really an ENG/EFP camera. It goes for magazine productions, for broadcast, for news and this is what makes it so special is that the camera provides so many choices and codecs to work with.
This is an IT emersed camera. You shoot to the REV Pro media which is a 35GB removable disc. It’s not a hard drive it’s only the platter and motors are inside the disc and the heads and sensitive electronics are inside the camera. So you only move the disc which you a consumable media with a list price of $67 US or 58 Euro so it’s a removable media - a consumable media.
