Interview with Ted Schilowitz, RED Digital Cinema
RED blazed into the camera market with the promise of what was called "Digital Film" - and delivered! The RED One camera has and is being used for feature film production and many other high profile productions, which would have traditionally been shot on film. Now RED has again shocked the world with the announcement of the 3K Scarlet - a three million pixel camera with a 2/3rds inch chip, which , according to RED, will shoot images good enough for cinema projection. The last time RED declared this so boldly there were sceptics and critics with voices questioning the sanity of those involved in the RED project. Since then RED has proved itself. The world now awaits Scarlet, and also Epic - a $40 000 5K camera, and Red Ray - a playback device for 4K content which will sell for less that $1000. All products are scheduled to be available early 2009.
