Panasonic are a company which have been independent when it comes to aquisition. AVC Intra, AVC Ultra, DVCPro HD,  DVCPro 50, Varicam, P2 - these are all trade marks in the industry by which Panasonic is known.

Over 3 years ago Panasonic introduced P2 - a card-based recording format, suited to HD acquisition. At the time this was the only affordable tapeless system, which enabled undercranking and overcranking. Initial loads of 8 minutes have now increased to 32 and 64gb cards, enabling a filly-loaded HPX-170/171 or HCX-200A/201A to record for up to 5 hours continuous.

At the heart of the success of the Panasonic range of cameras is what has been called the Panaonic "Mojo" - a unique look described as filmic, rich in colour, and absolutely beautiful to look at.

In this interview Jan Crittenden, Product Line Business Manager at Panasonic Broadcast, USA, tells of the attitude of Panasonic when it comes to making cameras, the much talked about Panasonic "Mojo", and what it is which makes these cameras unique.
