In the above interview, Dedo Weigert, world-class cinematographer and inventor of the Dedo lighting system, talks about how he began in the world of images and light, first in theatre before moving into film camerawork.

Dedo's career extends over 5 decades. In 1990 the unique innovation of the Dedolight system was recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with a Technical Achievement Award; this was further followed by a Cinec award in 2002 and both an Academy Scientific and Engineering Award and Emmy Award in 2003.

The Dedo lights have been referred to as the most innovative lightning system ever developed for motion picture and television. These lights are rugged, dimmable, can be dropped without destroying the lamp, and have been designed so they can be focusable - allowing for a strong clean beam without stray light. The lights are available in many different configurations. Furthermore, the Dedo lights can be powered from a variety of sources. These lights are very efficient providing strong light output without consuming tremendous wattage.
