AVID Technology: Interviews with Patrick McLean and Christel Jaekel

The price of Media Composer slashed - the state of play with AVID, 2008

Interview with Patrick McLean, Avid Technology; Christel Jaekel, Avid Technology

It was announced in March of 2008:

Avid has merged its Avid Xpress Pro software into its flagship Media Composer software product line and established a new price point of $2,495 USMSRP for Media Composer software.

This represented a significant price reduction in the cost of Media Composer and completely did away with the cheaper versions of the AVID software. What this means in that anyone buying an AVID in today's market is buying a real Media Composer - no cutdown, no half-functioning version - the Media Composer is now where it begins with AVID.

In this interview two people from AVID technology talk about just what is is about AVID which separates it from the competition - why AVID editors love the AVID so much, and the direction in which the company is moving.
