Two Adobe product managers discuss the Adobe video solution

Adobe has used the IBC 2011 conference and exhibition in Amsterdam to announced that it has acquired technologies from colour-grading tool developer Iridas.

Adobe says that expects to add Iridas colour grading tools -- which include tools for working with stereoscopic 3D footage -- to its video product line, improving the usefulness of Premiere Pro and After Effects for high-end TV and film work.

"The integration of Iridas' leading colour grading technology helps us continue to deliver high quality tools and redefines how professionals in the motion picture and video industry view, manipulate, enhance and produce their digital creations from script to screen," said Jim Guerard, vice president and general manager for professional video and audio at Adobe.

Iridas technology includes SpeedGrade, a toolset for stereoscopic 3D, RAW processing, colour grading and finishing of digital content. While Adobe has bought Iridas's technology -- not the company -- Iridas says in a FAQ on its site that its team will continue to support its products, and customer data has not been passed onto Adobe.
