My apologies for calling you 'the guy' who used the dvd machine. I read it in a hurry and wondered if it would record from FCP to the dvd Recorder via firewire. Sorry Rick.No offence meant.
When you say it (dvd recorder) will record from timeline to a dvd disc in recorder via firewire in/out. Is it possible to do rendered transitions to a recordable disc in the DVD recorder from the timeline. If so, is the quality of the recording acceptable to be able to produce a finished playable disc with chapters etc ????I will buy a recorder if I know it will work well enough to let me do this and produce my own dvd's of projects.
Cheers Kenny

KennyBoy1,
To "record" a DVD Video disc with chapters, menus, slideshows, etc, etc, etc, you need some authoring software. iDVD will do just fine to be honest - get iLife 04 and you'll be able to put first plays into iDVD... Of course, you will need a Mac with a supedrive.
Use the standalone DVD-recorder option to produce basic preview copies of your programmes, not for authoring DVD Video projects.
