Hi all, as you will know it is now shipping in the US, so how about some early warning of anyone who has received it in the UK yet?

I didn't know it was shipping in the US. My order still shows shipping on or after 13th June.

I was hoping if the head of Final Cut Pro was in London last night, he might have brought some copies with him on the flight over. I couldn't make it down last night, so maybe someone who was there can tell us.

I overheard the Apple posse discussing the rumour that FCP5 was shipping - I say rumour, but it was shipping somewhere in the world, but they didn't know exactly when boxes would be hitting the Regent Street shelves. Whether that meant that one could get a box faster by picking up a box in person rather than wait for shipping, I don't know.

I guess they decided not to mention it because there were no definite answers.

still showing 4-6 weeks on the Apple store, 2 weeks after I ordered it with 4-6 weeks shipping. I suppose they'd like to ship it earlier than promised so they can look good, and as you say, be definite about it.

I'm surprised Apple would attend a seminar on the Suite without having it available very soon afterwards. Hardly much point raising demand and awareness, then delay the release.

An update. I was in the Applestore in Birmingham today and I was told FCP 5/Studio is out next week. When I asked if they could confirm it, they checked, and confirmed it was out next week, but wouldn't give a day.

I can almost guarantee it will be after Wednesday as I will not be at home to use it for a week. And if it's delivered while my wife's at home, it may well get sent back!

a final update, just had a shipment notice from Apple. Due to arrive Wednesday, when I will have already gone away for a week!

Mine just arrived this morning - big instalation job though as need to install Tiger first so Motion will work...

Only certain parts of Motion need 10.4 to work - it says on the box 10.3.9 is the minimum requirement.

Image units and 16 and 32 bit float rendering and (not read on what they are yet) in Motion need 10.4.

I think HD Previewing in DVDSP4 also requires Tiger...

We have full copies of FCS in at Jigsaw today - upgrades still to arrive...

At Digital Safari we have ours and it's up and running on our online uncompressed 10bit HD system.

29GB install, running on a clean Tiger install. Certified hardware list is funny, no SDI capture cards, no Sony Z1, but they work!

Lot's of stuff, exciting things beyond what was in the demos and on the Apple site for those of us doing uncompressed HD.

Audio control surfaces work well, not as sophisticated as an audio workstation with just a on/off write audio keyframes button.

We have bookable HD demos coming up in Plymouth and Soho, which will go beyond what you will see at the Productiion Show next week.

The Soho demos are in the new JDC Grading theatre just off Wardour Street with 3chip DLP projection on a solid curved screen with custom Harkness Hall screen coating.

Not seen any upgrades yet.

davechalmers, I only ordered my copy yesterday, on the 24th (the upgrade from FCP version) and at time of order it stated it was 4-6 weeks delivery. However I received an e-mail this morning stating that it had shipped. Going on Apple's deliveries to myself before, I should receive this tomorrow. I stay in Livingston which isn't far from yourself.

I ordered the "upgrade from FCP to FCStudio" on 18/04 and it arrived this morning (one week earlier than estimated). Can't believe how heavy the box is...all those manuals for bedtime reading!

Yesterday the UK Apple Store was still quoting 4 to 6 weeks.
This morning it's saying 3 to 5 days. Maybe things are moving at last.
Sounds as though I'd better start making some space on my hard drive!

Just an update...my copy arrived this morning...

I collected mine yesterday afternoon.
I see what you mean by the BIG box! All those manuals!
Still, on first inspection, they seem straightforward and very thorough.

I've been struggling along with FCE for about a year and after quickly looking at FCP 5 I'm really impressed.

A glance at Motion, Soundtrack, Studio Pro and Compressor suggest they have similarities with FCE so I'm hoping they won't be too difficult to learn.
