I want to import clips from DVDs (copies of films that I have shot)into fcp to edit a show reel. How do I do this?

you need this...

to extract the MPEG material to DV or 10bit video you can edit in FCP.

cocuzzicox, if you have copywright access to the dvd you can use ffmpegx to convert the video_TS folder to an uncompressed DV file, perfect for FCP. It's free and completely hassle free.
